Release – SC’s Voter ID Law Approved by Federal Court

(Columbia, SC) – A three judge federal panel today issued its ruling to approve South Carolina’s Voter ID law.  Even though the United States Supreme Court ruled the issue of Voter ID to be constitutional back in 2008, our state’s constitutional right to enact this law has faced an onslaught of court challenges by the Obama Administration and its supporters.  While voter turnout has increased in every single state that has enacted similar Voter ID laws, South Carolina was again singled out as a target by this White House in the same way our state was singled out by the NLRB and powerful Union Bosses in an attack against Boeing for bringing jobs to South Carolina.  Originally scheduled to be in place for the 2012 elections, these court proceedings have delayed our state’s Voter ID law until at least the 2013 elections.

Release – Senate Votes Down Clean Voter ID Bill

Senate insists on unconstitutional additions that killed bill last year

(Columbia, SC) – Last week, the House returned to the Senate a clean Voter ID only bill. Since then, SC’s Attorney General issued an official opinion stating that the Senate’s version of the Voter ID bill is unconstitutional.

Faced with the decision of concurrence on the House’s clean bill (H. 3003), the Senate voted today to non-concur, insisting on the same non-related provisions that killed Voter ID last year.

Action Needed Today on Voter ID

VOTER ID ACTION ALERT

Action needed TODAY!  The time is NOW to get Voter ID passed!

TODAY, the Senate will receive the House’s “clean” version of the Voter ID bill that includes ONLY requiring a government-issued photo ID to vote.  Call your State Senator NOW and ask them to CONCUR on Voter ID TODAY.

Already, I’ve heard that the Senators are getting the message – you support Voter ID as a means to combat voter fraud and are in favor of this bill.

Conservatives strongly believe that your vote at the ballot box is a sacred right, and no one deserves for that vote to be compromised by perpetrators of voter fraud.  To be perfectly clear, Voter ID is about ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, and the Senate must CONCUR today to guarantee our elections are honest and fair.

After the Voter ID bill was killed in conference committee last year, we can’t take the chance of that happening again.  For the Voter ID bill to stay out of conference committee, the Senate must CONCUR on the bill today.

The stakes are too high.  Contact your Senator TODAY and tell them to CONCUR on the Voter ID bill to get it passed! You can find contact information for your Senator here.

Thank you for contacting your Senator and for letting your voice be heard on this important bill.  YOU can tip the scales and get this bill passed!  YOU are the key to ensuring we have fair and honest elections in South Carolina!

Thank you for your help and let’s get this bill passed!

Sincerely,

Bobby Harrell

Voter ID Action Alert

****VOTER ID ACTION ALERT****

Your Voice Will Make it Happen!

Dear Friends,

We are very close to securing our state’s election process by making Voter ID law. But your help is needed to make that happen.

Earlier this year, House Republicans passed a bill that would secure the integrity of voters’ voices at the ballot box by preventing fraud and abuse.  We firmly believe in every individual’s right to vote and their right to a secure ballot by showing a photo ID when voting.

When the House’s Voter ID bill reached the Senate, the same non-related amendments that killed the bill last year were added again. These tacked-on issues have nothing to do with Voter ID, aren’t relevant to the issue of preventing voter fraud and are bogging down the real debate .  That’s why yesterday, the House sent back to the Senate a CLEAN bill with Voter ID only.

We now need the Senate to concur on this clean bill to ensure Voter ID passes. A vote to non-concur will be a vote to insist on including the non-related amendments that killed the bill last year. We can’t let that happen again.  And if you make your voices heard, this should not happen again.

This crucial vote in the Senate is expected to come up early next week. Today, I urge you to contact your Senator and ask them to CONCUR on the clean Voter ID bill. You can find your Senator’s contact information here.

Let me be clear, this is about secure elections and the integrity of your ballot. The U.S. Supreme Court has already declared Voter ID to be a Constitutional means of securing ballot integrity. We just need the Senate to concur for it to become a reality in South Carolina.

Your ballot’s integrity is at stake.  Please, call your Senator today and ask them to CONCUR on Voter ID.

Sincerely,

Bobby Harrell
